How to Bet Using the Martingale System
It is recommended for gamblers to decide on how they are going to bet their capital even before entering a casino or gambling area. There are many betting systems that gamblers can use to increase their chances of winning. One of the more popular betting styles is the Martingale System.
The Martingale betting strategy requires players to continuously double their bets after every successive loss. The rationale of this strategy is to win back the capital you lost in the previous rounds and still be up by one unit of bet - or the amount you started betting with. Put in simpler figures, the betting sequence will be 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and so forth. In this case, 1 refers to a single unit of bet.
It is virtually impossible for a player to lose in all rounds in an entire gambling session. The losers at the gambling table are those who lose more than they win - but they still win nonetheless, even if these come extremely rarely. This makes the Martingale System appear foolproof. It takes just one win to end the losing streak. A single win is enough to compensate for all the previous losses, and the player manages to still be up by one unit of bet despite frequent (and successive) losses.
While logically sound, the Martingale System is risky for several reasons. One is that it requires a sizeable amount of capital in order to consistently apply it. Looking at the sequencing of bets, you'll see that by the sixth round of losing, your bet will be 32 times as much as your original bet!
This system is also dangerous when a player encounters a long losing streak. This is because casinos have wised up to this system and have placed maximum betting limits on gambling tables. If gambling areas permit players to continuously double their bets without limit, this can definitely break the bank. Remember that the advantage of this betting strategy is to recover all previous losses by just one win. However, the risk is that the player might reach the maximum betting limit before getting that badly-needed win. By that time, the player has already gambled a tremendous amount of capital just to win one unit of bet.
Players intending to use the Martingale System have to make sure they are armed with the capital necessary in using this betting strategy. More importantly, they have to carefully weigh the advantages and the disadvantages of the Martingale System at the gambling table before deciding to use it in games.
